ABOUT US

ARTRONAUT helps is the non-profit aid organization of the art project ARTRONAUT.

We support art and artists. Because they don't fit into the art market, live in crisis regions, have had to leave their homes, or are persecuted or oppressed.

Our field of activity is international and includes all genres of fine, performing and applied arts.

Our location is in the Ruhr area:

Oberhausener Strasse 225

45476 Mülheim an der Ruhr

Germany

ARTRONAUT is a project by artists for artists. That's why we know who needs what and how to do it.

Art is not a luxury. Art is human identity and self-determination, the oldest evidence of Homo Sapiens are works of art. Almost everything we know about ancient cultures is through the art they left behind. If we didn't have the cave paintings of Lascaux, we probably wouldn't know these people existed. And what would England be without Shakespeare, Germany without Goethe and Beethoven, Italy without Dante and Michelangelo? Art constantly poses the eternal questions of human existence anew. Thus, it is also the mirror of a society, its values, religion, and politics.

Consequently, governments always strive to control art. In democracies inconvenient artists are not supported in democracies, persecuted in dictatorships, imprisoned or killed. ARTRONAUT helps gives artists what they need to be able to create their art. Regardless of whether they are economically oppressed, politically persecuted or subjected to violent attacks. In doing so, we do not take sides for or against any particular policy or government. That's up to the artist. We only take the side of art.
